What Started It All: My Journey as a Self-Taught Graphic Designer
Share
I remember taking a surface design class and feeling excited about designing greeting cards. Writing has always been my first love, so I naturally cared more about the words. I still recall my teacher sitting down with me and saying, "Honey, the money is in the art; you should focus more on that." It didn’t connect for me then because I was more invested in creating something meaningful. I didn’t care about the money; I thought about the end result—giving people goosebumps and making them say, "Aww."
As I began to flex my entrepreneurial spirit, graphic design became something I naturally leaned into. When I started taking my skills further, I began writing and designing children's books. I focused on the joy and emotions of the characters. I thought about how they faced their struggles and what they had to overcome, letting the energy lead me. I considered the message and which colors best depicted those feelings. I followed my intuition, and I guess that’s why people love the characters and stories today.
This is not just a mood; it’s a lifestyle. When you surround yourself with intentional joy like art, colors, music, or a favorite coffee mug, these things give you a constant feeling of positivity. I love what I do because I get to share that positivity with you.
I encourage you to think about someone you could send a card to and browse our selection. It will be worth it!
